6th Grade Team Policies
6th Grade Success Club
Success Club rewards students who meet specific academic and behavioral expectations that are set forth by the 6th grade team.
All students start each quarter as a member of Success Club. At the end of each quarter, those students that remain members will participate in an exciting activity! Past activities have included a trip to the bowling alley followed by lunch at Golden Corral, a trip touring MU campus and athletic facilities, and a fishing trip to Stephens Park, followed with a picnic lunch!
Our GOAL is to have EVERY STUDENT remain a member of Success Club and it is a great motivator to work toward meeting the 6th grade behavioral and academic expectations.

Southern Boone Middle School ZAP Policy
ZAP stands for "Zeros Aren't Permitted". The ZAP plan is in place to make sure that students are completing and turning in assigned homework. If a student does not complete a homework assignment then he or she is given a ZAP. What is a ZAP? A ZAP form is presented to a student for failure to complete homework. The ZAP lists the student's name, date, assigning teacher, and a brief description of the assignment that was not completed. The ZAP also assigns as date which the student will have to serve and After School Detention if they do not return BOTH the ZAP and the completed homework the following day. This policy gives students an additional day to complete and turn in the assignment to turn in for reduced credit on the assignment. **Please note, a parent signature is required on the ZAP. Steps in the ZAP Process 1. Student does not complete homework, is given a ZAP form indicating the assignment missing and the date for a potential assigned After School Detention. 2. The student must have the ZAP form signed by a parent or guardian. 3. The student must complete the assigned homework. 4. The student must return BOTH the ZAP form and the completed work to his or her teacher the following day. If a student follows these steps then he or she will not be required to serve an After School Detention. ICMM Recess - I Can Manage Myself "I Can Manage Myself" recess is a weekly recess incentive program designed to help 6th grade students meet behavioral and academic expectations. Every Friday during 5th period, students who have "earned it" will receive recess in the middle school gym. Recess activities allow students a chance to socialize outside the classroom and get in some extra physical activity time. Some ICMM favorite activities include basketball scrimmages, friendly games of knock-out, volleyball, or just the opportunity to sit and talk with friends. Every Friday a list of students who have earned ICMM will be posted in the 6th grade hallways. Students are responsible for checking the list for their name before going to recess. If a student has not earned ICMM recess then he or she will report to the assigned 6th grade teacher to work on completing missing assignments, correcting work, or using the time as a quiet study hall. |
