6th Grade Science with Ms. Schauer
My name is Grace Schauer and I will be teaching 6th grade Science this year at Southern Boone Middle School. This is my twelfth year teaching here. I am excited to be returning and look forward to making this year a success.
I grew up on a farm in Boonville, Missouri where we grew wheat and raised sheep. I enjoy going home to see my parents, the horses Stormy, Obi, Noz and Sunshine, as well as the rest of the animals. I attended school in Boonville and was an honor student. I also won a state championship medal in track. I attended MU and MSU where I earned a degree in Fisheries & Wildlife Management and was certified to teach Science. I have since been certified to teach Spanish and English as a Second Language. My hobbies include running, playing tennis, swimming, horseback riding, and cooking for my boyfriend J. I have traveled to Spain, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, and the Canary Islands to further develop my Spanish-speaking skills.
I believe that what happens at school will affect your child’s future. Your child’s time in class will be well spent. He or she may even get tired from all the thinking they will do!
Students will need to bring their textbook, blank paper, a pencil, and their Science binder to class every day. Colored pencils or crayons and a calculator would be helpful but aren’t required.
Also, volunteers are always welcome. I have had parents help with labs, donate supplies, and act as guest speakers. Just let me know if you’d like to help and please contact me at school if you have any questions.
