Reading Standards for Literature and Informational Text 1. Read and comprehend complex literary and informational texts in the grades 6-8 text complexity band independently and proficiently (RL.6.10) (RI.6.10) 2. Cite textual evidence to analyze and draw inferences from both literature and informational texts (RL.6.1) 3. Determine a theme or central idea of a text (RI.6.2) 4. Provide a summary of the text distinct from personal opinions or judgments 5. Determine an author’s point of view or purpose in a text and explain how it is conveyed in the text (RI 6.6) 6.
